Last week, Gossip released the A Perfect World RMX EP, collecting nine remixes of songs from the trio’s fifth studio album.

RAC‘s remix of “Perfect World,” Peter Rauhofer’s remix of “Get A Job,” and Kaz James’ and Seamus Haji’s remixes of “Move In The Right Direction” had been offered as free downloads at one time or another. Of the five remixes on the EP that I hadn’t previously heard, my hands-down favorite is a surprising entry from Junior Vasquez, whose housed-up version of “Get Lost” recalls the veteran DJ’s Marathon remixes circa 1999-2000.

Gossip’s original “Get Lost” tips its hat to Inner City’s “Good Life,” one of clubland’s best-ever slabs of vinyl, so the combination makes Vasquez’s extended revamp a fantastic companion to Beth Ditto’s 2011 solo EP, on which the Gossip frontwoman had big fun paying tribute to the Detroit techno heroes too.
