Video Premiere

Madonna’s Super Luvin’

After a minute-long sneak peek during last night’s American Idol, Madonna’s new music video, “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” premiered in full this morning. The song, produced by Martin Solveig and featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., is the first single from Madonna’s forthcoming 12th studio album, MDNA.

Shared ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl halftime show, the “Give Me All Your Luvin'” music video, produced by Paris-based team Megaforce, features Madonna, Minaj, and M.I.A. with an army of masked cheerleaders and faceless football players. The guys on loan from the gridiron are, as one would expect, employed on her Madgesty’s secret service. Shown clearing the way, running interference, and taking a bullet for the Queen Mother, the music video reads in part as a light commentary on the cult of celebrity. To wit: Madonna attempts to get her mom on twice, only to be interrupted, and also finds herself the target of a tommy-gun wielding assassin (calling Dick Tracy). And the clip kicks off with this onscreen message: “Fans can make you famous, a contract can make you rich, the press can make you a superstar, but only luv can make you a player.” Now that’s one to grow on.

Madonna looks absolutely fantastic in “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” with nods to Brigitte Bardot, Marilyn Monroe, and even an update on her own Boy Toy-era garb. But beyond the costumes, hair, and makeup — perfectly realized as they are — it’s obvious that she’s having a whole lot of fun (check the sly glance at 3:11), and that’s the look I like most of all.

Might wall-walking be the 21st century’s moonwalk?
