Video Premiere

Katy Perry Likes Facebook Timeline

Sporting colorful graphics and typographical movement, Katy Perry‘s lyric videos are the cherry on top of the sub-genre sundae, far from the slap-something-together-until-the-real-video-is-ready executions of her musical peers. Perry’s latest lyric video, created for the eighth and final Teenage Dream single, “Wide Awake,” has to be her best yet.

Simultaneously serving as a quasi-preview of the pop swinger’s forthcoming 3D film, Katy Perry: Part Of Me — for which “Wide Awake” was written — the lyric video takes us through the nearly two-year journey of her Teenage Dream album campaign by creatively utilizing the Facebook feature that most users seem to loathe, Timeline.

If Facebook wants to pump some life into its recently issued stock, they would be wise to get as many eyeballs on “Wide Awake” as possible. Katy Perry’s team has done a much better job at making Timeline attractive than Mark Zuckerberg and Co. have to date.
