And so it goes with Australian dance-pop artist, Giulietta, whose new song, “Pretty In Pink,” landed in my inbox today. Alas, the third single from the Melbourne native’s sophomore album, 911: Code Pink, has zero to do with Andie, Ducky, and Blaine, but like John Hughes’ 1986 teen classic, Giulietta’s latest holds up to repeat plays.

Credit producer James “Simmy Beats” Sismanes for helping to craft such a midtempo keeper. Even the ‘de rigueur’ male feature on “Pretty In Pink” (from Dall. Diamond) not only doesn’t detract from the track, but actually elevates it, making Giulietta’s new single a seamless duet versus detouring for a drop-in.
