Expanded to an EP, the latest from the London trio has actually been available for well over a week now. After “Safe/Pain” was unexpectedly featured during BBC One’s official coverage of the London 2012 Olympics, [STRANGERS] wisely arranged for an early release to capitalize on the inclusion.
In addition to the epic original version of “Safe/Pain,” remixes from L.A. production duo Black Light Odyssey, the mysterious Youan, and rising dubstepper Rednex round out the EP. The first two are fantastic in their own very different ways, while my eardrums may never fully recover from the aural onslaught delivered by Rednek.
An additional pair of “Safe/Pain” remixes were not included on the EP release. London-based producer me-sheen takes [STRANGERS]‘ dark pop in an ambient drum-and-bass direction (listen/download here), but none can hold a candle to this blazing rework by Rio de Janeiro’s Superstringz:
[STRANGERS] frontman David Maddox-Jones tells me the band is readying their full-length debut, with an eye on releasing it early next year. The album will feature a mix of old and new material, with the first listen of the latter coming soon.
