Let’s talk about ‘Sex’

May 30, 2008 2 Comments

Well, the buzz has been inescapable, and at times, insufferable, but it’s all been leading up to today. The Sex and The City movie opens in theaters, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what the quartet is up to on the silver screen.

So in honor of the occasion, I figured it was appropriate to feature the song that closed out SATC‘s original television run in 2004. “You Got The Love” by The Source featuring Candi Staton wrapped up the series beautifully, a 1991 testament to getting by with a little help from our friends (or a higher power, if you prefer):

Another version of the video is more overtly religious. If you need to be reminded of the genius of the closing “Sex and The City” scenes, here’s that, too.

“You Got The Love” is available from Amazon, iTunes.

Super, super, super song! I loved it from the minute I heard it; a friend had actually put it on a mix cd for me post-SATC finale, then in going back and watching it I realized it was the same song.

Actually, I kinda like the “spiritual” attributes of the song, although it can certainly be a love song to oneself.

    Cool post….

Great thought, akeorlando, that “You Got The Love” could be a ‘love song to oneself.’ After writing that post, I played the track on my iPod over and over while on the way to work.

That song has certainly got ‘it,’ all right.
