Earlier this year on Record Store Day, Jukebox The Ghost released a limited edition 7″ featuring a cover of Donna Lewis’ “I Love You Always Forever,” backed with one of New Order’s “Temptation.”
While several artists have tackled “Temptation,” I can’t think of another that’s thought to try on “I Love You Always Forever.” Inescapable in 1996, Lewis’ #2 hit has been a staple of Jukebox The Ghost’s live set for quite a while, so the Brooklyn power-pop trio had plenty of practice before recording their studio version for posterity.
Last week, Jukebox The Ghost’s single received a welcome digital release. Now everyone can love the band’s cover always forever, even if it no longer comes with handmade art.
Though my focus was on Jukebox The Ghost’s cover of “I Love You Always Forever,” their version of “Temptation” is pretty good too.
Purchase Jukebox The Ghost – “I Love You Always Forever” (Donna Lewis cover) via iTunes, Amazon MP3.
