It was just a month ago that I featured a remix of Angus & Julia Stone’s “Big Jet Plane.” The Sydney siblings’ 2010 hit was sampled and recast for the dancefloor by fellow Aussies Goodwill & Hook N Sling as “Take You Higher.”

Crossing the continental divide, now Los Angeles electro-pop duo DWNTWN has covered “Big Jet Plane” for 2012. Bringing in a beat for their sparkling redo, Jamie Leffler and Robert Cepeda’s dreamy synth sensibilities are a fantastic complement to Angus & Julia Stone’s still gorgeous original. The background vocal samples are particularly well done.
